Ingolstadt, Germany / RankWire.AI / – German luxury automaker Audi unveiled the all-new Q9 on Wednesday, marking the official debut of the brand’s largest and most spacious flagship vehicle. Positioned as Audi’s first large full-size SUV, the three-row model sits above the Q7 and Q8 series to compete directly against established market rivals across North America, Europe, and Asia. The global reveal expands the automaker’s premium lineup to capture strong consumer demand for high-capacity utility vehicles featuring elevated passenger comfort.

Engineered on an expanded full-size platform, the vehicle measures 5.31 meters in length, 2.21 meters in width including mirrors, and 1.81 meters in height, supported by a 3.14-meter wheelbase. Exterior design elements prioritize a commanding silhouette characterized by an upright front fascia, clean body surfaces, and dynamic proportional balancing. Chief Executive Officer Gernot Döllner noted during the unveil that development focused heavily on U.S. market requirements, where dealer networks and consumer preferences have increasingly prioritized maximum cabin volume and flexible passenger seating configurations.

Advanced Lighting Technologies Premiere Across Exterior Body Panels

The interior architecture provides standard seven-passenger seating across three rows, with an optional six-seat business configuration featuring individual electrically adjustable captain seats in the second row. Driver assistance systems introduce adaptive cruise assist plus with hands-free driving capabilities at speeds up to 130 kilometers per hour on approved highway corridors. Cabin convenience is further enhanced by power-operated doors with integrated obstacle detection sensors and the brand’s largest panoramic glass sunroof, spanning more than 1.5 square meters with optional switchable glass transparency.

The model introduces new lighting innovations, including third-generation curved digital OLED rear light panels integrated into the vehicle contours. Up front, Digital Matrix LED headlights utilize micro-LED technology to project precise beam patterns and road surface guidance arrows during directional turns. As the brand’s first large full-size SUV, the Q9 establishes new technical parameters for exterior visibility and vehicle-to-everything dynamic lighting communication across the global luxury automotive sector.

Power Operated Doors Introduce Remote Convenience Access Features

Standard powertrain configurations feature a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine producing 429 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and permanent quattro all-wheel drive. For high-performance customer segments, the flagship SQ9 variant incorporates a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, accelerating from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.0 seconds. Both mechanical variants feature standard adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering systems to optimize handling stability and low-speed maneuverability.

Production of the new vehicle line will take place at the Volkswagen Group assembly facility in Bratislava, Slovakia. Commercial deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 across major international sales regions, with starting prices set at $87,700 for the base model and $118,000 for the high-performance SQ9 variant. The global launch expands competitive dynamics within the full-size luxury SUV category as manufacturers continue deploying updated digital, lighting, and chassis technologies across key international markets.
